Top Picks from Sedo’s GreatDomains Auction

It is day three of Sedo’s GreatDomains Auction for the month of October and we are beginning to see some movement in the table. 192 domain names have been lined up in this auction that began on 22nd and runs till 6:00PM CET (4:00PM GMT) on Thursday 29th October 2020. In this article, I will review my 10 top picks from Sedo’s GreatDomains Auction that will hopefully help you take up one of these assets before the curtains come down on the event.

A little about Sedo just in case you are seeing this term for the first time. Sedo is the short form of Search Engine for Domain Offers, a platform that prides itself in being “the world’s largest domain marketplace”. If numbers are a thing to go by, then Sedo merits the bragging rights. According to its website, it has over 19 million listed domains and 2 million customers. Last week, Sedo sold for US$5,995, for US$5,500, for US$5,000 and for €3,660 among other sales.

With that brief intro, let us get into my top 10 picks.

As strange as this domain name might look for English-speaking folks, bewertungen is the German word for reviews. The options that you could use this domain name for are limitless. Reviews could range from Real estate to beauty products or from Car/Home/Health/Life insurance to electronics. There is no stopping the variety of product reviews that you could publish under this domain name.

Just in case you were wondering, yes that’s another German word right there to mean technology. World over, the Germans have earned a reputation for their precision engineering. According to the OEC website Germany’s top three exports for 2018 were; Cars, Vehicle Parts and Packaged Medicines. The eventual owner of this website would be spoilt for choice in as far as the niches to profile are concerned.

In the domain name industry, two and three-letter domains are as prized as prime real estate. It is no wonder that Sedo classifies this as a “Top Domain”. According to the website, “All Top Domains Listings are high-quality domain names that have been manually reviewed and approved by Sedo’s brokerage team.”

This domain name is therefore a great option for any company or business whose acronym matches those initials. It could also be a great pick for those into aviation or Radio-Controlled (RC) airplanes, as a tribute to the SNJ Texan; a Navy and Air Force training aircraft that went into service before World War II.

The COVID-19 pandemic may have disrupted school schedules in various countries worldwide but class activities that transitioned to online platforms have continued unabated. According to an article published by the World Economic Forum in May 2020, the COVID-19 pandemic is forcing universities to bring their courses online and as a result, “video-conferencing apps like Zoom and Webex are throwing universities a lifeline.”

This trend is only bound to continue and this domain name will be a great platform to market courses, technologies and techniques that can enhance studying online.

This is another short and memorable domain name in this auction. As health and fitness continues to be a major focus of people worldwide, this domain name can be used to market products or programs that fit the niche. It could also be snapped up by a company that offers more daring adventures like base jumping, bungee jumping and other exhilarating recreational activities.

The only Spanish domain name in my review is great for any company or brand that is into advertising. Anuncios is Spanish for Advertisements. With over 570million people that speak Spanish worldwide, this is a great find for the classifieds. It could also be used by companies that manage digital screens or billboards in cities with large Spanish-speaking populations.

This is a great find for companies or agencies that offer activities or services in protected areas. It may also appeal to companies that collate information about various attractions in state parks across the nation.

The second three-letter domain name in today’s review may seem a little complex at first sight. Nevertheless, it offers great prospects. Xi is a roman letter spelling equivalent of several Chinese family names. This is therefore a great find for anyone whose surname is Xi and other name starts with an “H”.

Some more derivations for this domain name could be drawn from the fact that XI is the 14th letter of Greek alphabet and XI is the Roman Numeral for the number 11.

These autonomous flying vehicles have become must-haves for professionals and hobbyists alike. Equipped with the most advanced cameras, these devices have produced some of the most breathtaking imagery that we have seen in the recent past. Away from photography and videography, these devices are also taking over the skies at mega farms, providing precise crop spraying for farmers and saving them loads of money in operational costs.

So whether you are into videography or agriculture, this would be a great pick for you to showcase your product range.

Caravans or trailers were in the past associated with either those going on holiday or communities that had to migrate from place to place. Today, however, some families have fully adopted the caravan or trailer lifestyle as a way to enable them tour their country or the world in the comfort of their own home.

This domain name could therefore be a great pick for a company that converts vehicles into caravans or one that owns sites where those that own caravans or trailers can park them for specified periods. It could also be used by a company that rents out caravans or trailers to people who are willing to swap the comfort of their four walls for a limited time only.

182 options still exist

I hope you have enjoyed my review of these 10 domains. In the event that none of these struck a chord, please check out the GreatDomains Auction before it closes on 29th October. As always, I look forward to receiving your comments or feedback on this review. All the best as you make your choices!

  1. I really learned a great deal from reading your article. I did not know that 2 or 3 letters were top real estate in the domain world. I love jumps dot com as i’m a health and wellness blogger. I would be very interested in that domain. I wonder how much it will go for. I’m going to follow your link and check it out. Wish me luck 🙂

    • Hi Lisa,

I’m glad that you found a domain that is relevant to your health and wellness niche. By all means go for it! Wishing you all the best as the auction enters its final hours.

      We are Blessed.

  2. I am glad that I stumbled into this article because I learned about Sedo and some tips on how to choose domain names, just in case i decide to buy some for investment in the future.

The domain names for sale are just plain domains? Or they are already sites with some articles? I am asking because i have 2 domain names that I’m not using. I bought them on a whim thinking that i will be writing along the niche, but i finally changed my mind and bought another domain name which i am using now.

    • Thanks for your comment Julai. The domains under this auction are just plain domains. I totally understand it when people buy things on a whim. However, do not beat yourself too much about them, especially if you bought them at the normal and not auction price. I’m sure that if they are brandable or have a keyword in them, their value will appreciate and by the time you get round to putting some niche content on them, they’ll be well worth your investment.

      We are Blessed.

  3. Well,it’s good to learn about the sales that are ongoing there and to see the way it has moved so well too. I’m sure that it would make so much sense for me to try to see how I would be able to buy into some of those things. Thank you so much for sharing with us the information you have shared on it. It’s so nice.
